These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Get Real, a conversation card game application operated by Steve Andersen ("we," "us," or "our") at play.getrealgame.com and through any associated mobile applications. By using Get Real, you agree to these Terms.
Short version: Use Get Real for its intended purpose — genuine conversation and connection. Don't misuse the AI feature or the service. The AI is not a therapist. If you're 17 or older and use the app responsibly, we're happy to have you.
Eligibility
Get Real is intended for users aged 17 and older. The app includes questions on topics such as sexuality, relationships, and emotional intimacy. By using Get Real, you represent that you are at least 17 years of age.
If you are under 17, you are not permitted to use this app. If we learn that a user is under 17, we will take steps to restrict their access to the extent technically possible.
The service
Get Real is a conversation card game designed to help people connect through meaningful questions. The service consists of:
- A curated deck of conversation questions across various topics
- Topic filtering and content controls
- An optional AI chat feature ("Play Solo") powered by Anthropic's Claude
- Offline playback via cached question data
Get Real is provided free of charge. No account, subscription, or payment is required to use any part of the service.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any such modifications or discontinuations.
AI chat feature
The Play Solo feature uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate conversational responses. By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree that:
- The AI is not a therapist, counselor, or medical professional. Responses are generated by a language model and do not constitute professional advice of any kind — mental health, medical, legal, financial, or otherwise.
- Your messages are transmitted to Anthropic. When you send a message, the full text of your conversation is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by the Anthropic Privacy Policy.
- Responses may be inaccurate or inappropriate. AI-generated content can be wrong, incomplete, or unexpected. Do not rely on AI responses for important decisions.
- You use this feature voluntarily. The Play Solo feature requires your explicit consent before first use. You may revoke that consent at any time in the Privacy section of the app menu.
- You are responsible for what you type. Do not enter sensitive personal information such as your full name, address, financial details, or anything you would not want transmitted to a third-party AI service.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or remove the AI chat feature at any time, including in the event of changes to Anthropic's availability or terms.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Get Real only for its intended purpose — genuine conversation and personal exploration. You agree not to:
- Use the AI chat feature to generate illegal content, harmful content, or content that violates Anthropic's Usage Policy
- Attempt to circumvent, abuse, or overload the AI proxy or any other part of our infrastructure
- Automate requests to our APIs, including the question API or AI proxy
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or replicate the question database
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable law
We may rate-limit or restrict access to the service if we detect abuse.
Content and questions
The conversation questions in Get Real are original content created and curated by us. All question content is owned by Steve Andersen and protected by copyright. You may use the questions for personal, non-commercial conversation purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialize the question content without our written permission.
Some questions explore adult themes including sexuality and intimate relationships. By using Get Real, you confirm you are 17 or older. You can deselect any topic in the Topics panel to filter those questions out of your deck.
AI responses generated through the Play Solo feature are produced by Anthropic's model. We do not claim ownership of AI-generated responses and make no warranty as to their accuracy, appropriateness, or fitness for any purpose.
Disclaimer of warranties
Get Real is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content, including AI-generated content
Your use of Get Real is at your sole risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Steve Andersen and the operators of Get Real shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) Get Real, including but not limited to:
- Reliance on AI-generated content
- Loss of data stored on your device
- Service interruptions or discontinuation
In jurisdictions that do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. Because Get Real is a free service, our total liability to you for any claims shall not exceed $10 USD.
Termination
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to Get Real for any user who violates these Terms or who uses the service in a way that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful or abusive.
Because the service requires no account, termination in practice means blocking access at the network or device level where technically feasible. You may stop using the service at any time by closing the app and clearing your browser's site data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Get Real after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Because Get Real does not collect email addresses, we cannot notify you of changes directly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
